Masked Infection

Dear had been down with on-and-off fever, cold, sore-throat, vomiting for a week after we returned from KL... After failure of 2 dosages of antibiotics, I decided that it was time for him to seek another opinion aside from that GP of his...

Last Sunday night after another fever bout and dizzy spell, i accompanied him to SGH for a checkup... At the A&E, our temperatures were taken.. & someone stuck a green sticker on me (no fever), and a red sticker on Dear (fever!) LOL...
After which, we were directed to the.. dem deM DEM~!.. Isolation Section..., where everyone with fever ends up... and told to "Must wear your masks har?"..

The isolation section was pathetically tiny.. (almost) everyone had their masks on... plenty of nurses n doctors 'rushing' across the hallway but the queue number on the display juz doesnt move......

When it was finally his turn.. the doc directed him to have a chest xray.. and took a sample of his blood to test ("need to wait 2hrs for the results, har?").. After which, we basically rot outside the A&E for close to 2 hours and waited for the results...

It was a viral infection... "What virus?", we asked... "Well we cant really tell what virus as there are too many kinds" he said... "Anyway your chest xray looks fine, and blood test shows no signs of dengue or etc... But right now no medicine is of use to you, you have to let your body heal itself... Antibiotics are for bacterial infection, not viral... so stop taking them"...........

We were like... *FACEPALM*...

So we left SGH with a bottle of cough mixture, paracetamol, and vitamin pills -_-....... In any case, it was good to get an official all clear... And ever since he stopped taking the antibiotics, he doesnt feel woozy anymore... and right now as im typing this.. hes almost back to 100%...

Poor baby... now who's the one with the better immune system, huh? *touchwood* =P
